I mean, come on. Is anything ever REALLY pure?

Do you know what one part per billion looks like?

Ever thought about it?

One part per billion is the equivalent of half a teaspoon in an Olympic size swimming pool.

Do you know there are 660,000 gallons of water in an Olympic size swimming pool? In teaspoons that is 506,880,164. Just in case you were wondering.

Okay... so now... you buy an essential oil in a pretty bottle with a bunch of claims wrapped around the nicely designed label.

It says: "certified" "organic" "tested" "synthetic free"

YAY, you! Great label reading. So you buy it. We've all been there...fooled by pretty marketing.

Let's analyze a couple of these statements for a moment.

Certified? By whom?

Do you know there is no certification in the United States for essential oils? None. Zip. Nada.

While private companies issue their "stamp" of certification, or some will trademark it into their bottle, there is NO GOVERNING certification in existence for essential oils.

Organic? hmmmm. Well. Maybe.

In the United States, federal legislation defines three levels of organic foods. Products made entirely with certified organic ingredients and methods can be labeled "100% organic," while only products with at least 95% organic ingredients may be labeled simply "organic." Both of these categories may also display the "USDA Organic" seal. A third category, containing a minimum of 70% organic ingredients, can be labeled "made with organic ingredients".

Think about this a second.

When you grabbed your organic whatever, did you analyze the label to be certain it said 100%?? Or did it just say made with organic? With 95% organic able to bear the seal of "USDA ORGANIC," this quite possibly means you just paid a lot of money for nothing. 5% can easily be synthetics, chemicals, and fillers. CHEMICALS. With the label, the beautiful label everyone searches for and identifies with..."USDA ORGANIC".

Lastly, on the topic of organic -- which we have now all realized is a marketing sham used by companies willing to pay the government for a stamp of approval, while small farmers everywhere who are BEYOND organic in their growing cannot afford to pay for certification -- I would like to leave you with the thought that even arsenic is organic. You wouldn't consume arsenic, would you? But according to our government...if it is organic it, too, can bear the holy symbol of organics.

Back to that swimming pool. How many teaspoons of arsenic would stop you from putting your kids in there? One? Two? A few dozen? How about just a teaspoon added a day, long term?

In the world of essential oils, we are always talking parts per billion ... or even trillion. One drop contains approximately 40 million-trillion molecules. Numerically that is a 4 with 19 zeros after it: 40,000,000,000,000,000,000. We have 100 trillion cells in our bodies, and that's a lot. But one drop of essential oil contains enough molecules to cover every cell in our bodies with 40,000 molecules. Seriously. Mind BLOWN. This is why it takes so little, just a drop or two, for the desired result. This is why, just like air, it is viable and beneficial when breathed in.

This is why when you put it on your skin, the oh so tiny particles sink into your pours and are in every cell in your body in less than half an hour.

This would also be why purity matters. Anything...ANYTHING... added to the essential oil...synthetic, chemical, filler, pesticides or weed killer to the plant...ANYTHING added is going right along with those beautiful little molecules all the way to your brain, surrounding all the cells in your body, and either helping support a healthy life, or slowing poisoning you to death.

To me, a teaspoon matters. To Young Living, a teaspoon matters. I sure hope it matters to you and your family, too.
